Nordstrom
This training program is definitely exceeding all my expectations! There is an on going joke at Nordstrom that all their employees have drank the cool aid and it’s mainly because everyone that works for this cooperation is extremely happy! Over the last couple of weeks I have had the opportunity to meet some very important people in the Nordstrom family and every single person has been there for a minimum of 15 years, and the best part is the select few that left the company for a short period of time all left and came back because no other company has the same family like culture.
This was truly amazing for me to hear. When you just graduate college and take your first job or enter into a training program you never are thinking ok this is where I am going to be for the rest of my career. But the people that work for this company instantly light up when they begin to tell you their career history with Nordstrom. It’s a breath of fresh air when you are 22 and feel that you hit the jackpot from the start when you chose the program that has endless amounts of opportunities for someone to grow!
I am not going to lie at first I was freaking out, thinking how am I going to graduate from this program and turn it into a career? Well after this last two weeks I can tell you exactly how, I am going to voice to my mentors where I want to end up when I graduate from this program, as well as produce results that show how dedicated I am to making this a career.
Yesterday, myself and several others had the amazing opportunity of meeting Blake Nordstrom! While I was intimidated at first, he truly such a motivational speaker and I wish that everyone in the company had the chance to meet him! He realizes that we are all very young, but at the same time sees how much potential we all have. As the CEO and president he is extremely relatable, like all his employees he started on the sales floor and learned all aspects of the business before getting where he is today. And at first I thought I didn’t just graduate with two different degrees to be on the sales floor! But now I get it,it’s all about the customer you have to learn the Nordstrom customer in order to be successful, because at Nordstrom we are all about the customer and providing them with the best experience possible!
Truly am so happy and proud to be one of their employees and hopefully not just for the summer, but for a long time in the future!
